Guestin' at Inspired By Stamping Inspiration Challenge

I was asked by the very sweet Joanna Munster to do a guestie spot for the Inspired By Stamping Inspiration Challenge and of course I said yes cause I love to do guesties and I love their sketches.  ☺
Well this turned out to be a toughie for me.  Here's the sketch for this weeks challenge.
Do you see my dilema?  Yikes!  A non-colored image card!?????  LOL  I've gotten so used to having a stamped image on my cards I really had to put my brain to work to put together a card without one.  Now I guess I could have stamped something in the middle, but it would have had to be pretty small so I just decided to stick with a non-image design.
I used some beautiful Prima papers and changed the shape of the top panel.  Now I will totally admit that this card is not a wower, but I know several of you out there who would know how to turn this sketch into a masterpiece so I hope you'll hop over to IBSIC and join in the challenge, ......Geri, Kim L., Ros, Audrey..........to name a few.  ☺
     Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Papers:  Prima, Bazzill, Recollections

From little acorns........

I think I've gone nutty! ☺  More acorns today.  My squirrels have actually left me a few to use for props.
This clean and simple card was made using two different sized acorn stamps from the There She Goes Clear Stamps "Pumpkins on the Vine" set.
There's a new challenge up at the TSG blog and my team mate Kelly has provided this photo inspiration of her favorite drink, Pumpkin Spice Coffee.
To be eligible for the giveaway, create a card or project using the inspiration color challenge, and then come back to the TSG Blog to add your name and a link to your project in the InLinkz that is located at the bottom of this challenge post. This challenge is open until the winner has been announced on the following Monday (November 5th). The winner will get a $5 gift certificate to use in the TSG Web store!

By participating in this challenge, you may also find yourself in the Trendsetting Spotlight that shines on the TSG Blog every Thursday. We will be on the lookout to find challenge cards that stand out and show Trendsetting qualities. TSG stamps are not required to participate in the challenges but are appreciated :)

You do not need to have a blog to be able to participate in the TSG Challenges! You can simply add the URL link from your project after it has been uploaded to your online craft gallery. Hi Nut!

This is my second sad post.  If you remember last week I mentioned I was leaving a second team besides ADFD.  I've been with The Kraft Journal challenge since it first started and it has been such a wonderful experience.  Our DT Coordinator, Beth Moore, is a dream to work with and I've met so many great designers as the roster changed.  Babette Switzer's wonderful products have been so much fun to work with and her kraft cardstocks can be found on almost every card I make.  I will really miss designing for this team.    Here's sending a huge thank you to Beth and Babette!
So here are the deets for my final posting for TKJ.  I started with a base of Brown Kraft Cover Weight cardstock matted with Buff Ivory Cover Weight cardstock and designer papers.  The sketch I used was this week's Flutterby Wednesday.  You need to use a butterfly or fairy for their challenge so this little guy doesn't qualify even if he were a flying squirrel.  LOL  The image is from Whimsy and Stars Studio and is colored with Copics.  I wrapped the panels with 7 Gypsies Gypsy Market Seam Binding and added a tag with a handwritten sentiment and a little acorn stamp from one of my There She Goes Clear Stamp sets.
I hope you'll continue to drop by TKJ and play along with the challenges.
I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Celebrate the Occasion--fall
Kaboodle Doodles--fall themed items
Ribbon Girls--October color challenge
2 Sisters--Halloween or fall colors
My Sheri Crafts--fall
Wags 'n Whiskers--fall colors

Have a fantastic Monday and to those of you in the path of Sandy--STAY SAFE!

Fairy Dreams

I was so scared to take on this image and I TOTALLY cheated cause I had Alyce's beautifully colored version blown up on my screen to see where I needed to add shading.  Thanks Alyce!  Once I started coloring it, it just kind of took me over.  So much so that I totally forgot that I was supposed to be making it for a DT project, and I didn't use a single product I was supposed to on the card.  LOL  I was photographing it when it hit me that I had totally blew the assignment.  So here is a very rare "extra" card from me.  I have lots of room for improvement on this type of coloring, but I'm pretty happy with it all the same.
As stated in my earlier post I have sadly resigned from the A Day For Daisies team.  I have so enjoyed working with Tammy's images, but I just cannot keep up the pace of so many DT's.  I will be posting my last project for another team this month also.  Sad times, but I feel the need to get out from under some of the pressure to design weekly so I don't totally lose my desire to craft.  Maybe I will be able to find a few spare minutes here and there to make some more "extra" cards.
I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Paper Play--butterflies and bees or other things with wings
Crafts and Me--fantasy creatures
Whimsy Inspirations--all things sparkly
Through the Classroom Door--anything goes
Craft Your Passion--fairies and fantasy
Eureka Stamps--things with wings
Make It Monday--anything goes
Sunday Sketch and Stamp--sketch

Hope you've got something wonderful planned for this weekend!

Supplies

Paper:  Prima "Botanical", Recollections, Copic XPress-it Blending card
Stamp:  Crafts and Me "Hidden"

Tools:  Martha Stewart Daisy Edge and Flourish punches, Spellbinders Donna Salazar Creative Page Tabs
Miscellaneous:  Recollections pearls, Celebrate It ribbon, DMS embroidery thread, Crystal Stickles

Cute monsters

Actually I think these little guys are too cute to be scary.  They are part of the latest release from A Day For Daisies.  This is a bittersweet post for me because I recently made the decision to resign from this amazing team.  Working with Tammy's incredible images and the uber talented team of designers has been a dream.  I just have come to realize that I'm not Super Woman Super Crafter Woman and the strain and pressure of being on so many design teams has finally caught up with me.
I want to send out a huge thank you to Tammy, Arielle, Broni, Shelly, and Alice for sharing this adventure with me.  I wish each of you the very best in all you do.
Having said all that, I hope you will pop over to the ADFD blog and join in the new challenge.  The theme is to use "Halloween" colors.
Hope these guys gave you a giggle and that you have a fantastic weekend!

Fuzzy Bear

This week at Mo's Digital Pencil we want to see "Cute and Cuddly" things.  I decided to go with this adorable little bear from the Tiny Dancer Elements set that Mo created to compliment her beautiful little ballerinas, Fifi and Odette.  I happened to run across an amazing blog the other day called Dove Art Studios by Jennifer Dove and she has some amazing Copic tutorials.  Check her out you won't be sorry.  One of her tutes was for creating texture on a teddy bear.  You can find it here.  My results aren't perfect but I was pretty happy with the way it turned out.
I did a ton of layering, some hand stitching (love my Tim Holtz ruler for that), and added some fun little pale pink eyelets for ribbon and bows.  You can't see it very well in the photo but her tutu is covered in Cotton Candy Stickles.
Although the sentiment is for a special soon to be birthday girl, I send it out to all of you today.
Please come over to Mo's, check out the Cute and Cuddly creations of my amazing team mates and play along for your chance at a $5.00 gift certificate from Mo's store.

See and believe

Have you guys checked out the great sketch inspired by a card from my team mate, Kim O., we have this week at There She Goes?  I decided to use these cute little porkers for my interpretation.  They're from the "Oh Crop" set by Melyssa Connolly.
I splurged a couple of weeks ago and loaded up on MFT Die-namics dies.  I LOVE the Fishtail Banner set!  I also used some trusty Nesties and some fun Memory Box clouds to compliment my flying piggies.

Border punch tutorial for The Kraft Journal

I have a tutorial for you today from The Kraft Journal.  You may already know how to do this handy little trick but I thought I'd share just in case.  I'm going to show you how to make a decorative border for a circle or oval using Martha Stewart straight edge border dies.
In the first photo you can see my uncolored images, a orange circle border (which I later changed to green) and a 6" circle of chipboard covered with Brown Kraft Cover Weight cardstock.  You can also see my decorative border strip cut from a piece of 12" x 12" Bazzill.
I used my craft scissors to snip between the sections of the border strip.
I cut a second 6" circle of chipboard and laid down a border of Copic double sided tape.  I then began to adhere the sections one at a time around the edge of the chipboard circle.
Here's the completed circle.  It took almost two full sections and you'll probably find that your ends don't match up perfectly. Just hide that with some embellies.
Here's the finished project you may have seen on my blog last week.  Happy crafting!

Guestin' at Top Tip Tuesday Challenge

I was invited by the super sweet Samantha at Top Tip Tuesday Challenge to be their Guest Designer this week.  You guys know I hate to pass up the opportunity to be a guest.  LOL

The theme for the new challenge is "Halloween".  I dug through my digi files and found this cutie from A Day For Daisies that I have never used.  She's colored up with COpics and backed by some more of those wonderful freebie digital papers from Bearly Mine Designs.  I would really have been in a bind this year if Donna hadn't shared those freebies.  I used a Tim Holtz Sizzix embossing folder on the bottom paper to add that fun texture that kind of looks like spider webs.  At the bottom I added some washi tape and a button.  The sentiment is from Whimsy Stamps.  I won a set of them a loooonnnng time ago from the uber talented Chris Olsen.
TTT has some wonderful sponsors for this go around.

Think pink

Tammy is releasing some beautiful images from A Day For Daisies this week in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness.  My mom is a survivor and I know there are several people in our crafting community who have beat it, are battling it, or know someone who has or is.  Here's what the whole release looks like.
I chose to work with this beautiful daisy image and colored it with Copics.  The butterly was diecut and then I used the negative to trace the shape onto some matching vellum.  I glittered the vellum and layered it with the die cut.
We still have our "Pop It Up" challenge going on over at the ADFD blog.  You can hop over there and pick up those beautiful butterfly freebies to play along with and there's a freebie in the store too.

Pumpkin smiles

Our challenge this week at Mo's Digital Pencil is "Autumn Fun". So I decided to combine a couple of Mo's images, "Punkin" and "Pumpkins" and use them to create a little wall hanging.  This measures about 7" around.  I used a 6" base of chipboard cut with a Fiskars Circle cutter and covered it with kraft paper.  The decorative border was made using a Martha Stewart border punch.  Just in case you don't know how to do this I'll be posting a tute next week.  Under the border I used some paper ribbon that I cut in short lengths and folded over.  Some leaves from a decorative fall flower pick finish it off.
You can find both of the images in Mo's store along with all the cuties my team mates have used this week.  Be sure to check out their wonderful work.  The sentiment is from Create with TLC.  I know it's talking about jack-o-lanterns but the thought sure fits for this little guy too.
Linda also started a new challenge at the Catered Crop Sunday where the theme is "Circle Round"  We want to see your projects created with circles or circle shapes.

Pumpkin Kitty

Today I have a card to share with you from Whimsy and Stars Studio.  This is Mabelle's adorable "Pumpkin Kitty".  I can't say my mojo has been working very well for me lately.  Think I'm suffering a bit of burnout so this is a pretty CAS card....again.  Are you wondering like me if my love of frou frou well stir back to life?  It may sound strange, but the CAS cards are harder for me than the more elaborate ones.  The CAS (to me anyway) seem to require a more concentrated effort to really make your coloring stand out since the image is the real focal point of the card.  That's a good thing in that it encourages me to sharpen my coloring skills, but it's tough in that it really makes you have to make the most of the few design elements you pair it with.  Ah well--growth isn't a bad thing is it?  LOL
     Have a happy Wednesday!

Supplies

  • Paper:  Simple Stories "Harvest lane", Bazzill, Kraft Outlet Brown Kraft, Copic XPress-it Blending card

TSG October Releases Sneak Peek--Day 3

(If you missed my post for Mo's Digital Pencil today please click here)

Welcome to Day 3 of our sneak peeks of the October Releases

We have been begging for it, and finally, Torico gave us what we wanted…our very own NINJA set!! From colds to birthdays, this set is sure to kick whatever you need a card for’s butt!! Just stand back, he’s got this…

Ninja Skillz is a 6x8 set that includes a total of 26 stamps and will sell for $24.00.

Pretty Cool little dude huh?  I stamped out his throwing stars and then adhered them to some chipboard and punched the center out with my Crop-a-dile.  I couldn't leave his cupcake plain either, so it got a coating of Liquid Applique for some more texture.

Would you like to win the new Ninja Skillz stamp set? Here is what you need to do- visit the Trendsetter’s blogs that are participating in each of the blog hop challenges below and comment on their creations as you go. One of the Trendsetter’s blogs (from each hop day) will be randomly chosen as the ‘it’ blog and a winner will be picked using a random number generator from the comments left on that Trendsetter’s Blog Hop Challenge post.

You will not know which blog has been chosen so the more you comment on the better your chances are of winning new stamps! The Blog Hop Challenges will be open until 5 PM Eastern Time Saturday, October 13th with the winner being announced during the release party chat.

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Take me out to the ball game

Whew!  It's been a busy week here on my blog huh.  A huge thank you to all of you who have visited and left me some love on my TSG blog hop cards this week.  I have one more for you later today.
This card is for this week's "B is for......" challenge at Mo's Digital Pencil.  I managed to get boy, baseball, and banner.  I could have went for brads too, but liked the look of the eyelets.  The image is the boy version of Tuesday's Child that can be found right here in Mo's store.
It's a pretty clean and simple card.  I cut a circle with my Fiskars circle cutter in white and black and then added stitching to the white one to create a baseball.  Had to dirty it up with some ink too.  The sentiment is another great one from Create with TLC.  I thought it fit perfectly with his "stretch".
So make us something with "b" things plus a Mo image and link up for your chance at winning some Mo goodness.
I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Word Art Wednesday--encouraging or uplifting sentiment
Incy Wincy--anything goes
