Okay here's my third and final post for today.  Been busy haven't I.  LOL  This jolly old St. Nick was made using the sketch from Seize the Sketch.

Winter Wryn

Have you been enjoying some crafty time during the holidays?  I'm almost completely done with my DT work for this year so I've had a little play time just to create whatever I wanted to.  I have three posts today for JFF cards.
Not too long ago I purchased some Tiddly Inks images.  I'm very partial to Wryns and I printed this one out to play with.  Even got a little fancy by using an edge and corner punch to add a little shape to the card base.  I used an old Sketchy Colors sketch for the layout.

Christmas planner

Are you in the mood for Christmas yet?   Our wonderful Cathy has challenged us to come up with an "Anything but a card" project for this weeks challenge at Mo's Digital Pencil.  I've seen several of these Christmas planners created from a plain old manila file folder and decided to try it out.
For the cover I've used the adorable "Little Elf Kit".  All my papers are from an older K & Company Christmas pad.
When folded the planner has four nice pockets for holding your Christmas to dos.  I've added some printable lists that can be found here.

The last pocket hold a handmade envelope for keeping track of receipts or coupons.

I added some velcro to my ribbon for the closure.

Here is a pictorial tute on how to construct the planner.

1.  You need one manila folder.  To have the tabs in the position shown on my planner you need to use a folder with the left hand tab.

2.  Open the folder with the tab in the upper right hand corner.  Fold the bottom of the folder up until the rounded corners meet on the left hand side.  Use a bone folder to smooth all your folds.  The photo below shows what this should look like on the left hand side.

3.  Turn the folder ninety degrees and fold that same left hand edge up until the flat line (NOT the tab) of the folder is aligned with the natural center fold of the folder.  Your folder should now look like this.

4.  Flip your folder over to the back side.

5.  Line up the folded edge on your scoring board and score along the crease for the last page of the planner.  Flip your folder back over and use your bone folder to smooth this last fold into place.

 6.  This is what the completely scored project will look like.

7.  And this is what it will look like when folded up.

I'd like to enter my card into the following challenges:
Crimbo Crackers--Anything but a card
Delightful Challenges--Anything but a card
Little Red Wagon--accordion fold
Make It Monday--anything goes

Hope you have a great rest of the week!

Warm hearts

Don't know what's going on this year but I am full fledged into making Christmas cards.  Worked out great that the new challenge this week at There She Goes is "Winter Fun".  This is also There She Goes Again week so we'll be featuring three of the older sets all week long.  This one is called "Wonderful Winter Wishes" and I think it's just adorable.
I have so little spare time to just play, but I was fairly ahead of schedule with my DT cards and decided to check out one of the sketch challenges that I really like (but hardly ever get to play along with).  This card was based on the current sketch at Seize the Sketch.  I just picked up this American Crafts paper pad on clearance at Marshalls and loved the blue/red/chocolate color combo.
Here's a close up of the huggers.

TSG Stampbook Saturday--Out for a ride

Today is Stampbook Saturday at There She Goes and my last posting as this weeks Trendsetter.  First off let me say hats off to those of you who know how to photograph 12 x 12 layouts well.  LOL  Lighting and getting the page to lay flat is no easy feat and I failed miserably, but I think you'll be able to pick out the good stuff despite the bad photos.
For my project I've created a layout using the one and only photo I have of my great grandfather.  The little guy is my grandpa.  I believe this photo must have been taken shortly after my grandpa, his mother, and brother arrived in the US in 1912 from what is now Serbia.  They arrived in New York and traveled to meet great grandpa in St. Louis.

For my layout I started with a 12 x 12 piece of brown patterned paper.  I then proceeded to add distress ink and Glimmer mist until I felt I had created a vintage look.  I used a brick template and modeling paste to create the brick accents on the sides of the page.  My DP mats were inked and attached with machine stitching in brown.
The vellum strip was stamped with the TSG "Henna Swirls" stamp set and embossed with gold embossing powder.  Tucked underneath it is a panel of lunchbag kraft paper stamped with the "Journal Lines" set.  I used the "Mixed Media Background Builders" to add some aging effects to the lightest DP panel.  The gears are from the "Get in Gear" set.  I blew them up to the size I needed and then traced and cut them out of grunge board.  They're embossed with distress embossing powder.
Here's a better close up look so you can see all the details.

Hope you've enjoyed the projects I've shared this week.  You still have time to play along with my "Thanks/Thanksgiving" challenge.
     Have a wonderful weekend!
