Deep Ocean Challenge Guest Designer

I was so excited a few weeks back when my friend and Mo team mate Franz asked if I would like to be a Guest Designer at Deep Ocean Challenge.  Of course I said yes.  ☺
The challenge theme is "For a Boy" so I decided to use this wonderful Mo Manning image called "Dream".  You can get this image in a girl form too.  I colored him up with Copics and then decided to try to do a little out of the box and out of my comfort zone card design.
I love these Simple Stories papers for boy cards.  They have full sheets of patterned paper and then some in the back of the pad that can be cut apart for tags or whatever.  One of the back sheets had the mat with faux washi tape tabs and I thought it would make a great background for my little pilot to be.  The second panel was cut on one side using TH's File Folder die for a fun tab.  I embossed and inked the strip of kraft and every piece got a trim of black.
The banner pieces were cut from the tips of the largest star from a Sizzix die.  I used an 1/8" hole punch to make holes for the hemp cord.  The gears are from a TSG stamp set.  I printed them out on cardstock then adhered them to grunge board and cut then out.  Next I covered them with silver chunky embossing powder.  After that was melted I added a sprinkling of Vintage Photo Distress ink to age them.  My Crop-a-dile does not like the American Crafts eyelets I used.  The top two as you can see are rather misshapen, but at least they match.  LOL
Hope you like the card.  It was a blast to get to play along with Franz and the rest of the Deep Ocean Team.  Thanks so much for having me as your guest.
I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

  8. I love your card! Everything about it is fabulous! Love all the detail and I was like wow what are those mishapened eyelet things? How did she do that? Are those special Steampunk eyelets?...lol...I love when errors end up making projects better than without.

  9. Very creative use of these papers. I love all of the layers and the black matting. This little boy is one of my favourite Mo images because it makes me think of my dad as a little boy. He flew a spitfire during WWII and then kept up his license just for fun. I imagine him dreaming of flying as a child. I have photos of him at age 20 with this kind of jacket and helmet. The banner is cute and the wording suits the image so well. Thanks for the smile you have given me today, Tracy.
