On the Horizon

I had to laugh when I read my friend Linda's blog post and she said she was having withdrawl symptoms when Blogger was down cause I was too!  It was like we all got frozen in time and couldn't go forward.  I did get a lot of work done though.
I really should be working on a mini album I've started, but you know how it goes.  When the inspiration strikes one must act. {grin}  This card was created because of inspiration from several challenges.
The image is colored with Copic markers.  I created the beach scene background and I'm pretty happy with how it came out.  Did you notice the sea foam near the shore?  That's just a tiny little bit of puffy paint.  I used Annika's cloud technique again and tried some stippling for the sand.
I couldn't believe it when I googled poetry about the sea and this Emily Dickinson poem popped up.  It fit so well with the image.

By the Sea
I started early, took my dog,
And visited the sea;
The mermaids in the basement
Came out to look at me.

I hand stitched around the sentiment.  There was no way I was going to attempt to do that on the machine!  LOL
Hope you like the card.  I'd like to enter it into the following challenges:

City Crafter--by the sea
Make It Crafty--dotty backgrounds
Mo's Digital Pencil--here comes summer
Inspire Me Fridays--anything goes

Hi Tracy! I had to pop in to observe this gorgeous image more closely. I saw it on Paola's blog and I'm completely in love with it. LOVE LOVE LOVE the way you colored this scene and the foam and clouds look simply amazing! I really have to find some time and watch Annika's tutorials. I work with Promarkers but I still find them so useful.
Love your card, makes me think of the seashore and I become nostalgic:)
Have a great Sunday sweetie!
Hugs, Iulia

Wow this is just outstanding. To the texture of the shore line to the blending of your inks, this is just drop dead gorgeous. If you don't get a Guest Designer spot at Mo's I don't know who will. I laugh at your description of yourself your sidebar where you say you may not be that great of an artist. You must be kidding right! Your cards are stunning and drool worthy and that exceeds anything that you say about not being that great of an artist. God has blessed you with some pretty amazing talent and all I can say To God Be The Glory for you and your talent. Hugs.

Tracy this is fantastic! I love the little boots on this sailor! The indents in the sand (shadowing) are so real (and yes, I noticed the foam...brilliant!) and your clouds look like the stampscapes/landscapes techniques...they look so great here. I can SO imagine this scene emotionally...you have brought it to life. The quote is indeed perfect. It just makes the entirely beautiful card you created more rich and imaginative...just like a sailor at sea...or looking out to sea. Ahoy Captain-ess! Samara xox
