What's Up Dude?

(Edit:  This post was up yesterday(Thursday)!!!   I thought my Blogger account was back to normal, but it totally wiped out this post!  Grumble Grumble.  For those Thursday challenges that I entered, I promise it was here yesterday.  You can check the comments section to see when my friends left comments yesterday.)

My blogger account is still messed up, that's what's up!  Obviously judging by the above note, yesterdays "repairs" didn't fix the problem.  Thanks to my friend Nancy I  now know how to get around the commenting problem but have other issues.
I still have one more DT card to make and three to post before I have all my obligations taken care of before we leave on our trip.  But, I said it before, and I'll say it again.  When the inspiration strikes--you better jump on it!
You all left me such wonderful comments about my "On the Horizon" card and I was really pleased with the way the water came out on it.  Well It didn't place at Make It Colourful for the spotted background challenge (I didn't expect it to since I only used the dots on a little patch of sand), but when Zoe announced this weeks challenge as "color a water scene"--I bet EVERY one of you heard me groan!  I told some of you that I was sure that card was a total fluke and I'd never be able to do it again so to even contemplate trying it again would mean taking on a huge personal challenge.  I couldn't resist.  One of the reasons I like the MIC challenges so much is that they make me grow and learn how to expand my coloring knowledge.
     Sooooo . . . I gave it another shot.
The image is "Surfer Dude', a brand new one from Mo's Digital Pencil.  I'm happy with the dude, pretty happy with the second attempt at coloring water, and no so happy with the sky.  I overthought the process and it didn't come out like I wanted it to.  Oh well, two out of three ain't bad as Meatloaf said.  Oh gosh did I just date myself!!!  LOL
The image is colored with Copics.  For the water, I once again added a little puffy paint for the breakers and the foam on the sand.  For the sand itself, I wanted the part nearest the water to have a wet look so I took a teeny tiny bit of Glossy Accents and painted it on with a teeny tiny brush very thinly.  You can't see it at all in the first photo so here's a closer view.  If you blow the pic up you can see it much better.
As For the rest of the card, I added some fun meshy ribbon that matched the color scheme, Stickles, pearls, a decorative corner, and a sentiment using a brand new set of sentiment stamps I just got from my Papercraft Star team mate Cecilia Stephens who just came out with her own line of stamps, Tradefish Designs.  The "sandy" mat panel was just a simple tan and I wanted to give it a little more umph so I sprayed it with a couple of Glimmer Mists that gave it sparkle and a textured look.
Dude is really cool with his hemp jewelry so I decided to give that a try.  Don't look to closely for precision knotting.  I was doing that at 12:30/1:00 am last night.  LOL  I just thought it was a cute little extra embellishment.  I've had that tiny shell punch forever and never used it.  Found it while I was digging around last night and punched three of them from the DP.  I used an embossing stylus to round the shell and put a little pop dot underneath to hold the dimension.  Then I dressed them up with some little pearls.
     Guess that about covers it.
I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:

Charisma Cardz--for a male
Some Odd Girl--make a scene
Crafting For All Seasons--anything goes
Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenge--here comes summer
Digital Tuesday--add some texture
The Cheerful Stamp Pad--color my world

Stamping Scrapping Challenge Central--masculine
Stamps R Us--going digital
Make it Colourful--color a water scene
Sugar Creek Hollow--masculine

I'll be back Saturday with a very special card post.  See ya then!

Wow your card is amazing! I saw it got an Honours on Make it Colourful, and i agree with every word they say about it, the white on the waves is a brilliant touch, as is the 'wet look' sand. I think your waves and sky look fantastic too, so well coloured. I loved seeing your card! CoB
