Are you surprised! LOL You don't see very many Tilda's on this blog do you? :-) In fact I think I've only posted one other. I've just never felt the urge to jump on the Tilda band wagon, but I was asked to use one for my Guest Designer spot at the Color Me Creative Copic Challenge Group. A huge thank you to Charlene Randall and the DT for giving me the opportunity to guest design for CMC!
The challenge this time is vintage and distressed coloring. They want you to color your image in a style that mimics using distress inks, but do it with Copics. I was really excited when I saw the technique I needed to use. I love the look of this style, which is very much the style of the Norwegian cardmakers that I admire so much. CMC is the ning site of the uber talented coloring queen, Suzanne J. Dean and thankfully I had one of her excellent video tutorials to teach me how to do this technique. You can watch it here. It's really not as hard as you might think and I liked it so much you might have noticed that I used it on the "Lacey" card that I made for Papercraft Star this week.
I kind of worried myself at first because I chose to work with purple instead of carbon copying the soft pinks that Suzanne used in the tutorial then I had a hard time finding papers to go with her. I didn't want to overpower with strong purples and luckily I found a scrap of the soft shade I used to frame her with. It went just perfect with the Basic Grey Capella papers for, I think, a nice vintage look.
So watch the vid, grab some of your soft Copics shades and join us for the challenge this week. The group would love to see what you have to share. :-)
