A Deer in the Christmas Wood

Check out my sidebar for a link to my blog candy!

Goodness knows I have a million things I should be doing, but I couldn't help myself.  I've said it before--when the crafty mojo strikes I must go with it!  LOL
My friend and ADFD team mate Jennifer Scull is the "Corrugated Cardboard Queen".  She really has a knack for using this stuff and she got me inspired to give it a whirl.  Thanks Jennifer!
My card base is kraft with a white distressed mat.  Next is the layer of cardboard which I painted with Picket Fence Crackle paint and a little bit of gold ink.
The little deer is an image I won at Do You Stack Up and is from their sponsor, Stretch 'n Bubbles.  He's colored with Copics.  GASP!  Yes I did say Copics.  They were calling out from the craft room again.  :-)  I used an embossing tool to "bow" out his body a bit for some dimension.  For his head I colored a second image of the head, used the embossing tool on it also, and then popped it on top of the first image for a little more 3D effect.
The sentiment is a Michaels Recollection stamp which I also embossed and attached with pop dots.  The little snowflakes are the waste from a Martha Stewart corner punch.  I covered them and the edge of the white mat with Picket Fence Distress Stickles.
Now the trees----ah my favorite part of this card.  I was really REALLY happy with how these came out.  I'm giving you the link to the awesome tutorial for how to do this right here.  The base is a triangle of cardstock and the "branches" are daisy flowers punches folded in half and glued on in layers.  Cool huh!  I used an emery board to sand the edges of the petals like the tutorial suggested, and if I would have had the white core Coordinations paper I would have gotten a different effect and might not have needed to add the puff paint snow.  I like the puff paint anyway so all is good.  :-)  Here's a close up so you can see all the cool dimension.

Sorry for the wordy post.  :-)  Hope you like the card.  Off to upload some DT cards and get to all those other things I'm supposed to be doing.  LOL.  (P.S.  Nancy, this card made me think of you up there in Canada, Hugs to you snow girl!)
I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

You took the basic tutorial to exceptional. I glad you did not have white core paper and used the puff paints on the branches. You brought that extra dimension to the card. Great job.
