Gordon Golfer

I had mentioned a while back that I have another bunch of Art Impressions stamps waiting to be inked up.  Well here is the first one.  This is Gordon Golfer.  Many, MANY years ago I worked for Gordon's Jewelers and one of my co-workers was an older lady who was divorced.  She had an uncanny ability to spot golfer customers whom she referred to as "golfin' fools".  I think her ex may have been one.  hee hee  Anyway, her term has stuck with me all these years.  Not sure if Gordon qualifies for the "fool" part, but he's definitely a golfer.
I googled golfer images to see what kind of clothing to put on him and it seems that sadly the iconic plaid golfing pants are a thing of the past.  So sad....NOT!  LOL  I decided to keep Gordon in the classic though, so I set out to figure out how to color plaid.  There are several tutes out there, but they weren't quite what I was looking for until I found this one.  Her coloring is amazing!  My first attempt was okay, but I didn't have the right white pen.  This second attempt looks much better.  The plaid is a combination of Copics, Sharpie, Faber Castell, and Prismacolor pencils.  It's not perfect and I need more practice, but I love how it looks.  Here's a close up of ole Gordon.

Copics Used:
skin E000, E00, E11, R20, R30
hair E27
hat YG93, YG95, G40
shirt C00, C2, C4
pants YG93, YG95
(plaid was created with addition of Sharpie White Extra Fine pen, Faber
Castell Pitt Artist pen, and Prismacolor pencils Tuscan Red and Pale Vermillion)
socks E23
shoes E31, E33, E39
golf club W1, W3, W5, C00, C6, C10

YAY!  It's Friday peeps!  Hope you have a great weekend!

My grandmother always thought golfing was the silliest sport, hitting a ball to find it to hit it again, I can see her reasoning! Love his pants, can't wait to see the technique when I get home, thanks for sharing the video!

Big groan and grin for the punny sentiment!! Very impressed that you coloured the plaid as I'm sure I would have cheated and done some paper piecing!! Great card and awesome clouds :)

Gordon is so cute although he might have to yell fore on this stroke. I love the grass and clouds behind him. Those plaid pants are amazing. Thanks for the link on the video. The photo corners and the wonky angle of the image piece make for such a cool design. Love the simple twill tape, too.

Now he is fun, and I love your story about those golfin' fools......but that all pales in comparison to my awe over your coloring! Plaid??? Holy Cow! Unbelievable!

OMG...her video had me in a trance!! I caught myself drooling and my hand twitching from wanting to draw like her. FANTASTIC link H and I think your plaid pants look terrific. You still couldn't pay me enough to wear them myself, but I DO think they look sensational on him. Thanks for the mind blowing creative inspiration this morning. :)
hugs to you!
