Guest Designer at City Crafter Challenge Blog

I have been playing along with the challenge at City Crafter Challenge Blog when I can since I first started making cards several years back.  I was blessed to be asked to do another Guest Designer spot for Kirsty and the girls for this weeks challenge.
Did you think you were at the wrong blog?  No Copics in sight...well, I did color the pearls with one.  hee hee  I wanted to keep my card more in keeping with the general style of the CCCB DT so I went with a more clean and simple design and the chipboard bird instead of something colored.  The initial card concept was drawn from this great inspiration pic for this weeks challenge which is birds and blue.

You might be looking at my card thinking, well she didn't use any blue.  The background mat is a blue gray that doesn't show up very well in the photo.  It's much bluer IRL.  The bird is from Michaels.  I covered the bird cage in gesso then sprayed it with gold Glimmer Mist.  I finally got around to buying the 18 kt. gold leafing pen my sweet friend Katie is such a wiz at using and gilded the edges of the base mat and along the edges of the bird cage.
I hope you can hop over to CCCB and play along with this weeks challenge.  Thanks so much for having me girls!

Oh, what a beautiful card, and how fun to see you rocking a slightly different style than your norm! Even without your usual copic masterpieces, this is fabulous! Love the chipboard bird and the pretty spray of flowers. The scalloped edging and sentiment are beautiful, too. Love the charms hanging from the branch. And the pen work with the gold is a fantastic finishing touch!
