It's time for our second challenge at The Kraft Journal and this week we want you to create something based on our word of inspiration--FAMILY.
I am a family history nut. I have a four drawer filing cabinet full of notes on my and my husband's family. PLUS I have tubs of old documents and photos. Everybody knows I love genealogy so I inherit a lot of stuff! So I guess it goes without saying that when I saw the challenge word I automatically thought "YAY! A reason to make a mini album." LOL So here it is.
The album itself is constructed out of Lunch Bag Kraft A2 Standard Envelopes from Kraft Outlet. You can find direct store links to the products I've used at the end of this post. My title is matted on Lunch Bag Kraft cardstock and I even made a Tim Holtz grunge rose out of some of it. (I need some more practice on these.) LOL There are tons of punched flowers in this album.
I've chosen pictures for all my grandparents and great-grandparents for the album and I've given each one a page of their own except for a couple in the back. For the men I've added a little photo of something relating to their occupation or something in their life and since ALL my ladies were flower lovers, they all got some pretties to decorate their pages. Each page also has a label from a 1.0 x 1.5 Rectangular Brown Kraft label Sheet matted in black for their last name or maiden name initial.
I don't have a photo of my great-grandmother on my dad's side and I only had a photo of the other set of gg's together so these pages worked out a little differently, but that's okay.
I trimmed a sliver off the top of each of the envelope pages so that I could make big pockets out of them. Each person has a tag with all their info on it. I used the Lunch Bag Kraft Text paper for these. There's another blank piece on the back for either more photos or more journaling. I used a My Favorite Things Die-namics Notebook Edge die on the top of each sheet. Doesn't it look cool! I used Vintage Photo Distress ink ALL over this album and used a Sepia colored pen for all my journaling and the lines on each tag. Gives it a great aged look.
This was just a quick run through of the album. If you'd like to see a more detailed look you can check out my video for it on YouTube here.
So now it's your turn. What will you come up with for our "family" challenge? Remember to use kraft paper (we'd love for you to use Kraft Outlet paper but it's not a requirement) or Kraft Outlet products and link up your creation at The Kraft Journal blog.
