Flowers from the showers

It's time for another challenge at The Kraft Journal and this week our theme is "April showers bring May flowers".  Considering we've been getting drenched just about every day since April started we should be over run with flowers this year.  LOL
For my card I started with a base of Brown Kraft Cover Weight cardstock and matted it with some Bazzill and Buff Ivory Cover Weight cardstock.  The next two DP panels were matted onto more Bazzill and Brown Kraft.  The horizontal panel was cut from DP.  I added a punched edge to the bottom and straight edge to the top in Brown Kraft.  The DP is edged with Earthy Hemp Cord and I wrapped the whole panel in Natural Twill Tape.  The sentiment is more Brown Kraft and Bazzill.  The flower was punched from Brown Kraft and  inked with Vintage Photo Distress ink.  I added a button from my stash tied with Hang Tag String.  The butterfly was punched from Vellum and painted with Creative Inspirations paint.
My image is from Digi Doodle Shop and was colored with Copics and Prismas.  I added Glossy Accents sprinkled with ultra fine glitter to her wings.
The Scalloped Grungy Prim Tag tucks in behind the image.  I cut the string off, threaded some more twill tape through the hole and then used the string to tie it off.  The sentiment was printed onto Brown Kraft and added to the tag.
Hope you can play along this week.  Don't miss your chance for a Top Three or Feature Me Friday spot plus your name will go into the hat for the monthly $15.00 voucher giveaway from Kraft Outlet every time you play.
I'd like to enter my card into the following challenges:

Fresh strawberries

Our challenge this week at The Kraft Journal is "Farm Fresh".  I found this great digi stamp of strawberries  in my stash and colored it up with Copics.  The card base is a 3 7/8" square of Brown Kraft Cover Weight cardstock.  I then punched a 5" square piece of the same with a MS punch around the page set and attached that to the card base.
I then added some designer paper that I encircled with Dark Jewel Hemp Cord.  My image is popped up on pop dots and matted with Brown Kraft.  I added a bow of 7 Gypsies Savannah Seam Binding and some buttons tied with Hang Tag String.
It's a smaller card than I usually make, but it packs a punch with that image.  We'd love to see you join the challenge this week.  Just use some kraft or a Kraft Outlet product and link your creation up by 6:00 p.m. EST on Sunday to get your name in the hat for this months $15.00 gift voucher, a Top Three of the Week spot, or a Feature Me Friday Spot.
I'd like to enter my card into the following challenges:

There's a hole in my bucket dear Liza

I hope I'm not the only one out there who knows the hole in the bucket song.  LOL We have a "Rustic" theme this week at Papercraft Star.  I can't think of anything much more rustic than pumping water by hand into a bucket.  This one looks like it's in pretty good shape.  :-)
My card started with a base of kraft cardstock and then was matted with some K & Company papers.  For the center panel I used my re-purchased Martha Stewart scallop punch (remember I broke the first one) to create two panels to lace together with some hemp cord over a piece of burlap.
The image is from Digi Doodle Shop and is colored with Copic markers.  I did some distressing with scissors and inks.
Normally all of our designers use one or more images from our sponsor, The House Across the Bay, each week, but we've changed thing up a bit and now we're going to feature one of our DT members each week using the digis.  Make sure you check out our featured designer so you can see what imaginative way they've incorporated a digital image into their project for the week.  And don't forget we have a freebie posted every Tuesday on the Papercraft Star blog.
Our challenge is open through 6;00 a.m. EST on Monday if you'd like to play along.
I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

The Spotted Chick--krafty Thursday
Party Time Tuesday--anything goes
Creative Craft Challenge--BINGO
Crafty Boots Challenge--inspired by a song title
Heart Song Inspirations--buttons and/or brads

Happy Birthday Kirsty!

Today is a special day for a very sweet friend.  Her name is Kirsty Vittetoe and she is the founder of City Crafter Challenge Blog and Pixie Dust Paperie.  Now I know you all have heard me sing the praises of the CCCB cause it's one of my most favorite places to play.  So, when the DT girls asked me to participate in a birthday blog hop for Kirsty I was more than happy to join in the fun.
So this is the card I made for Kirsty.  The image is colored with Copics and I've used lavender and punchwork in Kirsty's honor.  :-)

     Happy Birthday Kirsty!

If you haven't joined in the challenges at CCCB you should really give them a try the DT provides such wonderful inspiration and encouragement.
     Have a wonderful weekend!

Digi Doodle Shop's Best Challenge #53

This is my last card for the Digi Doodle Shop's Best Design Team.  Judy and my teammates have been an absolute dream to work for and with and I will miss being a part of this fantastic challenge blog.  However, change is inevitable and I have some things coming up in the future that will require quite a bit of time so I needed to free myself from some of my online obligations.
For this card I have used one of the recent new additions to the Digi Doodle Store "Special Delivery".  You'll see that several of my teammates also picked this stamp to use for their cards this week.  I just think he's fabulous.  He definitely has attitude!  Wonder if he's related to Gordon Ramsay?
I used Copic markers to color him and I never could get his apron to look like I wanted it too.  I wanted it to be dark but not solid black and I just couldn't get it right.  Practice, practice, practice.
The challenge theme this week is Birthdays so we hope you'll link up your birthday creations for a chance at a surprise prize.  Since it's Digi Doodle Shop's 1 year anniversary, Judy is giving the top three winners EACH a prize!  WOOHOO!
Happy Thursday!

Papercraft Star Challenge #39

It's a recipe challenge this week at Papercraft Star.  For my card I've used a Digi Doodle Shop image called "You've Got Mail".  I've colored the image with my Copics and added a little Walnut Stain Distress ink around the edge and some subtle yellow chalk around the image.  The recipe called for a flourish and rhinestones, both of which I added in black to match the mats.
You have until 9:00 p.m. EST Sunday to get your entry linked up for this weeks challenge and a shot at this months Grand Prize from Michelles Scrapbooking & More.

Digi Doodle Shop's Best Challenge #47

It's "Anything Goes" time again at Digi Doodle Shop's Best.  For my card I have used one of the "Butterfly Scrolls" images from the Digi Doodle Store.  The set actually contains two different images.  I used my Copics to color the butterfly and the little flowers and added some pink bling rhinestones to the flowers centers.  I ruched up some pretty brown satin ribbon to add under the image.  The pink rhinestone brads on the tag look neon in this picture but they are actually very light colored.  I just hand wrote the sentiment.
Hope you join us for the challenge this week.  You can't get much easier than anything goes. :-)
     Blessings!

I hope you can see the shimmer on his feathers.  After I colored him I went over his feathers with Forever Green Perfect Pearls and it looks just like the shimmer on their wings.
I'm sure you've got something nature themed in your stash of stamps so let us see what you come up with.  You could win a $10.00 voucher from the Digi Doodle Store.

Digi Doodle Shop's Best Challenge #45

Our challenge this week at Digi Doodle Shop's Best is Valentines.  I've used the "Basket Full of Love" image from the Digi Doodle Shop store and colored it with Copic markers.  I was really, I mean really happy with how the basket came out.  LOL  it surprised me cause I'm really terrible with shading and how to figure out the light source stuff.  I know it's not perfect but I'm happy with it.  The papers are some old Cosmo Cricket Chemistry papers I won in a scrapping contest at my local scrapbooking store I think back in 2009?  This is the first time I've used them and I really liked them once I started making this card.  The heart was cut from the papers, matted on chipboard, and covered in about three coats or more of UTEE.  I kept losing hold of it while melting the UTEE or sticking my finger in it, so I'm not really sure how many coats are on there.  LOL
Don't forget my blogaversary candy is open until Valentines Day.  Click on the link on the sidebar to go to the post for the details.
     Thanks for popping in!

Digi Doodle Shop's Best Challenge #42

Isn't this image just gorgeous!  The color combo of pink and green is the challenge this week at Digi Doodle Shop's Best.  Hydrangeas are one of my favorite flowers.  You can find this digital image here at the Digi Doodle Store.
I've used my Copic markers to color the image and added a little light green chalking around it for accent.  The fabulous paper backing it is from a Prima paper pad called Fairy Flora that I received as a wonderful surprise from my buddy Jan.  She did reeaallly good! :)  I was coloring the image when it came in the mail and the minute I set my eyes on it I knew it was the perfect background for my hydrangeas.
Get those pink and green lovelies linked up and you just might win a $10.00 voucher for the Digi Doodle Store!

Digi Doodle Shop's Best Challenge #41

This week's Digi Doodle Shop's Best challenge is to use buttons on your project.  I guess I decided to stick to a "B" them--buttons, boy, ball, birthday.  LOL  Totally unintentional I promise. :)  This image is called "Boy & Ball" and you can find it right here in the Digi Doodle Store.
The image gave me some more Copic coloring practice and a chance to use some of my favorite October Afternoon papers.  My Bestest Bloggie Friend Jan got a new sewing machine for Christmas and I was telling her that I like to use stitching on my cards, but a lot of the time I forget I was going to do it until I've already glued everything down.  I remembered this time!  LOL
Drag out all those buttons and add some to one of your creations for our challenge this week.  We'd love to see what you come up with.  And don't forget that Judy has extended the 50% off sale at the Digi Doodle Store through January.
Happy Thursday!

Digi Doodle Shop's Best Challenge #38

This week's challenge at Digi Doodle Shop's Best is New Beginnings.  We're about to start a new year with new beginnings for what's ahead in 2011.  When I saw this stamp, "Nativity Scene", in the Digi Doodle Store I thought it fit right into our theme as one of the most blessed new beginnings ever, the birth of my Lord and Savior.
A while back I created a mini album with papers from the Graphic 45 Christmas Past collection.  It's a beautiful collection, but among all the traditional Christmas colors were a couple of sheets of blue and purple that my color coordinating OCD self just wouldn't allow me to include in the album.  However, they worked perfectly for this card.  There's layering and stacking, one of my handmade flowers that I colored to match with distress inks, and even a doily I created using a Martha Stewart corner punch, an embossing folder and a piece of regular copy paper.  More Copic practice (something I think I'm going to need hours at) and some chalking on the image.
We'd love to see your take on our theme of New Beginnings and don't forget that ALL the Christmas stamps are on sale for 50% off at the Digi Doodle Store!
Happy Thursday!
