The Kraft Journal Challenge #6

     It's "Hip to be Square" week at The Kraft Journal challenge.  Bet that got you all singing that old Huey Lewis and the News song.  LOL
     For my project this week I've created a card with lots of squares, faux quilting squares that is.  There was a great tutorial on Splitcoast Stampers this past week on how to make this card.  I have to admit I didn't vary much from the sample card, but I didn't want to cover up all the "quilting" so I kept the embellishments to a minimum.

     The card base is the wonderful linen textured Buff Ivory coverweight cardstock from Kraft Outlet and mixed amid all the layering I also used Brown Kraft coverweight cardstock, and Lunch Bag Kraft cardstock.  I used some of the new Twill tape Babette is carrying in the store as well as one of the Round Metal Edge Grungy Prim Tags and a tiny bit of the 7 Gypsies Victoria Seam Binding for the bow embellishment.  I even used some of the extra string that came on the grungy tag to tie the little knots on my button trio.  Waste not want not.  LOL  I dug through my button stash and actually found a square one to add to the bow.  I ran the top of the base card and the "quilt" through the Cuttlebug in the Textile embossing folder to add the "quilting" to my quilt blocks.
     It was an easy project to make although I did it twice.  I found that starting with laying down the middle square and working outwards with my quilt squares made for a much better fit.  maybe I'm just a crooked cutter though. :-)
